Pictures from Highstepper Rainstick dance (work in progress!)

The Highsteppers showed their rainstick prop routine at a clinic they hosted yesterday for girls grades 1-8. This routine is still a work in progress as they just learned it for competition season. Is really neat as the music has quiet moments and all you hear is the "rain" from shifting the rainsticks. Anxious to see this at competition. A first for this type of prop for the team.

Highstepper Team and Officer dances, Fall 2013

Well, we are almost done with this football season! One more game and then playoffs. The HIghsteppers have done a great job again this fall. Most of their routines are posted on YouTube by a mom Highstepper (http://www.youtube.com/user/WardieJane?feature=g-high-crv0).

Pep Rallies
Alli is an officer this year and in addition to performing at halftime of the football games, the officers also perform at the pep rallies. Alli is in the far left corner of most of these officer routines. Here are links to a few of the pep rallies:

Hannah's Tally Ho Halloween Show October 2013

Hannah's riding stables held their annual Halloween Show and Hannah signed up to do several of the fun, game-like events. Each event involves riding a different horse that you've been assigned to ride and also different people with whom you're riding with. You find out all of this the morning of the show when you arrive at the barn. It's a fun day and the weather was beautiful. She did well and won several first place ribbons!

TWHS Highsteppers Galveston Island Festival 3-2-13

Alli and the Highstepper team competed at the Galveston Island Festival at Moody Gardens yesterday. This is their second competition (first one was in San Marcos last weekend) and they felt they did much better today!

Below are all three of their team performances. I try to zoom in on Alli at the beginning, otherwise she is usually in the center of the screen. The second routine with the ball is really tricky and one girl lost the ball before it even started (you'll see!) but she quickly reclaimed it before the routine started! Ooops!

They have one more competition this season which will be in Denton near Dallas in three weeks.

Tally Ho Sweetheart Show 2-16-13

Hannah participated in the annual Sweetheart Show at Tally Ho yesterday. She drew a horse she likes, Leo, and they did really well and had a great time. She ended up with lots of ribbons and $80 cash!

It was a long day for everyone, including the horses! By the last course, Leo was tired... you could tell he just didn't have the energy he had earlier in the day (see last video). He was also ridden by another girl when he wasn't with Hannah. Below are some pictures and video:

Homecoming 2012

Alli and Zach had Homecoming this past Saturday night. They had a great time... Alli went with a group of friends to eat and come back to our house for a fire in the firepit, smores, music and a fun night of hanging out with friends.

Zach and Torie looked terrific all dressed up and enjoyed dinner out, fun at a nearby games/bowling/laser tag place, and time back at our house.

Unlike when Steve and I grew up, not many of the kids go to the dance at the school. They say it's not very fun at all. Too bad, ours was a blast!

Bottom left corner is when Zach asked Torie to Homecoming. He had tealight candles in the letters H and C and a question mark, and gave her flowers. It's becoming tradition here to come up with a special way of asking a girl to Homecoming and Prom. Also tradition here are the mums shown in the upper right corner below. These are made from ribbons and special trinkets and the boy makes one for the girl and vice versa. We hadn't done this before so it was a first for us! Torie didn't want hers really big... some girls have them with ribbons all the way down to the floor and wider than their body! Girls hang theirs around their necks and boys have a garter they wear on their arm. They wear them on the Friday of the Homecoming football game.

Alli braided her hair, pulled it to the side and curled the ends. Looked so pretty!

Alli's Letter Jacket!

Alli got her letter jacket today for academic achievement. She is SOOO excited! She will also have saddle shoe patches to put on one sleeve for each year of being a Highstepper.
So proud!

Highsteppers Yankee Doodle Kick Routine

Highstepper Competition, San Marcos, TX, Feb 18, 2012

Alli tried out and made two out of three competition routines (kick and open categories)... being only a freshman, she was thrilled! In fact, she was actually the first alternate for the routine she didn't make (Prop) so she was really happy. Here is video from their first competition. The team was pleased but felt they can do better at the competitions coming up this weekend and next. We think they did GREAT!!

Highstepper Kick 10-28-11

Alli made the kick routine for this week, the last home game of the season unless they have the first playoff game at home.

She starts basically in the middle of the screen.

Alli made the prop routine and performed while Mom was here -- it was great for Mom to be able to see her at a game! Although, you'll see a couple of the girls lost their balance in one spot... the routine is quite difficult, but overall they did a fantastic job!

Homecoming 2011

Homecoming 2011

Homecoming was last night for Alli and Zach! They both had dates but went with a group of friends, some had dates some didn't. There were 18 of them. In typical Woodlands over-the-top style (or at least we think so!), they had a limo take them to a restaurant for dinner, then a place for outdoor group pics, then to the dance, then to a house of one of the girls for a swimming after-party. The after-party was over at 2am. 9th grade... We're wondering what they have to look forward to in life now! Hannah's 13th birthday!

Ok, I can't believe we have 3 teenagers! Hannah turned 13 last week! But, to be honest, she seems much older than her 13 years. So pretty, smart, and a GREAT sense of humor :) She chose Saltgrass Steak House for her birthday dinner and afterwards we celebrated with a few gourmet cupcakes from a shop here that's all the rage. Here are a few pics we snapped when celebrating at home :)
